Swets Lake

25 Miles South of Chicago

Swets Lake is a small body of water in South Holland located just off the Illinois-Indiana state line. The lake is close to schools, city parks, grocery stores, and restaurants, making it a lovely place to raise a family.

Downtown Chicago is 25 miles north on I-95. There you will have the advantages of a nightlife scene along with hospitals or the O'Hare International Airport.

Recreation on the Quaint Lake

Swets Lake is a rectangular body of water, having a tremendous open stretch for boating and fishing.

Around the lakeshore, you will find small sandy areas, boat launches, and docks. Kayaks, canoes, Jon boats, and other small watercraft commonly cruise the lake.

Grassy areas around the lake are great picnic spots, kickbacks in a hammock, and enjoy nature's sounds.

Parks, Golf Courses, and Beach Access

Rivers Oaks Golf Course is a picturesque 18-hole course just east of the lake. Park of River Oaks, Gouwens Park, or Veterans Memorial Park is a great place to take out the kids, go for a jog, or walk the dog.

Rainbow Beach is a hidden gem just south of Chicago. Located only 15 miles north of Swets Lake, it can be your new favorite hang-out spot.

Events in South Holland

South Holland's 4th of July celebration begins with a Rib Fest Contest, followed by more food and games. It ends with what they claim to be, the best firework display of Chicago's suburbs.

Veteran's Park hosts Movies in the Park, a movie is played on the big screen, and everyone is invited to watch from the grassy hill and enjoy concessions.

Other events include Paarlberg Fest, Harvest Fest, Winter Wonderland, and breakfasts with the mayor.
